As the first five Black players to integrate the University of Georgia's football program in 1971, we have a unique place in UGA athletics history. We have decided to use our influence and experience to positively impact youth and support current and future UGA students and student-athletes.
"At UGA, we will focus on addressing the challenges that all students are facing. We will also collaborate with the University of Georgia's Office of Multicultural Services & Programs. We want to start inside of the heart of student connectivity through supporting development programs by sharing our personal and professional experiences and serving as a resource for underrepresented, underserved, low socioeconomic young people.”
As college players, our focus was on getting our education and not just making it big in the NFL. This has helped us be successful in our careers after UGA football. We want youth to see the opportunities that exist for them to have a great life beyond the social and economic dysfunction they currently experience. We also want UGA students and student-athletes to be prepared for successful careers in the world beyond college.
